Won’t You

Won’t you be my medicine baby,
You know I got this sickness deep inside,
I can feel the fire burning,
It’s taking over my mind.

Won’t you be my poison baby,
I want your taste to linger on my lips,
Your touch and caress makes my body numb,
With each kiss I become more of an addict.

Won’t you be my guiding light baby,
I’ve lost my way in the dark,
The monsters are trying to close in on me,
I need you to shine your light bright so I can find my way to your heart.

Won’t you be my protector baby,
You know I could use the help,
I want to be able to love and trust again,
But first I need saving from myself.

M. Tobin

All people ever see is a smile & they never think twice. You would cringe if you knew what I was feeling inside. But I guess you’ll never know…

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier - Tomb Sentinels from the Army’s 3rd Infantry Regiment’s “The Old Guard” have guarded the Tomb for 24 hours a day, 365 days a year regardless of the weather, since 1948. Honor, respect, and commitment are why this place continues to be guarded 24 hours a day, as per tradition, even during hurricanes and blizzards. The Tomb Guards have contingencies that are ready to be executed if the weather conditions ever place the soldiers at risk of injury or death.

Honor, respect, and commitment:  This is what Memorial Day is about.

I hope you’re flying your flag proudly today.  I hope that you take a moment to remember - and honor - the sacrifices of thousands of U.S. servicemen and servicewomen and their families.  I hope you teach your children about honor, respect, and commitment.

May their souls be at rest.

Don’t mistake my kindness for weakness. I am kind to everyone, but when someone is unkind to me, weak is not what you are going to remember about me.

One day, you’re 17 and you’re planning for someday. And then quietly, without you ever really noticing, someday is today. And then someday is yesterday. And this is your life.

The Allegorical Cave: So Damn Beautiful

awakenedphilosopher:

she’s so damn beautiful
and she doesn’t even know
everybody stares at her
everywhere she goes

but I see through her smile
to the pain she hides inside
and I know I could love her
if I wasn’t so damn scared to try

because she’s so high above me
and I have no wings to fly
but if I could I’d soar…

Being with someone can be like an addiction. Gradually, you can’t stand to be without them, everything you once enjoyed- you no longer care about, you become weak and dependent. Like a heroin addiction - you think you can’t live without it, but you’re gradually dying inside and out. Break free.

You CAN live without them!

How odd I can have all this inside me and to you it’s just words.

I wanted a perfect ending. Now I’ve learned, the hard way, that some poems don’t rhyme, and some stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what’s going to happen next.
